WOLLONGONG United showed deadly finishing skills in converting the few chances that fell their way in their stirring 2-1 win over Port Kembla at Macedonia Park.
Striker Ali Salim scored his 15th and 16th goals of the season to help Wollongong United secure the points.
The match started with Port creating a number of chances but they never were able to beat the busy Wollongong United goalkeeper.
One breakaway in the 21st minute saw Salim run clear of the offside trap and chip the advancing Port 'keeper for a 1-nil lead.
Port Kembla dominated the remainder of the first half but had nothing to show for it.
Salim was Port's nemesis again after ten minutes of the second half when he netted to make the score 2-nil.
From there on Port Kembla threw caution to the wind and attacked in numbers.
They dominated play when Salim was sent off and talented defender Michael Robinson pulled one back.
However, it was too little, too late for the Port Kembla side.
