WOLLONGONG Perfromance Racing (WPR) will make their first trip to Australian motor sport’s most sacred ground, Bathurst, for the Supercheap Auto Bathurst 1000 this weekend.
The event doubles as round six of the Fujitsu V8 Supercar Series and team manager Gary Carson is excited to be making the trip to the most renown weekend on the Australian motor sport calendar.
“It is very exciting, Bathurst really is the pinnacle event of the year, and to think this year that we’ll have our own car racing around the best circuit in the country is awesome,” he said.
WPR driver White will be on ‘double duty’ this weekend as he will race in both the Fujitsu series and the V8 Supercars.
“As a driver all you ever want to do each year is to drive at Bathurst so to think that this year I will be driving in both series is very pleasing,” White said.
“We are currently sitting in fifth position in the Fujitsu series so I am looking forward to trying to put together another good round in the Selectv Holden.
“Then I’ll be jumping ship and racing the Team BOC Ford with Christian Murchinson for the main series race.
“ I have had a look at the program for this weekend and to be quite honest I’m tired just looking.”
After a podium result at the previous Fujitsu round the WPR Racing crew have been working hard to fix minor repairs and get the Selectv Holden ready for the big race.
“There is always pressure when you have to do both series over the weekend and I have been working really hard on my fitness,” White said.
“I know that both teams have been working hard to deliver me with the best possible cars for this weekend’s race so hopefully we can walk away from the event with two very happy teams”.
Round six of the Fujitsu Series will be made up of two 14-lap races on Friday and Saturday while the 161-lap V8 Supercar race will be held on Sunday.
