Round three of Illawarra Rugby Union was good for University and Shamrocks, while Vikings were victims of a 64-point mauling at the hands of Shoalhaven. Shamrocks scored a hard-fought 15-12 win over Camden, thanks to tries by Chris Bradshaw and Craig McFaland. Scott Terasenko potted a conversion and a penalty to help steer Shamrocks home. Meanwhile, University flexed their muscle with a 28-10 win over Bowral. Mark Placek had a fruitful day, scoring a try and potting four conversions, while Josh O’Connor, Matt O’Sullivan and Killian Grennell also crossed the line for University. Elsewhere, the Vikings were handed a 64-nil thumping by Shoalhaven, who were still stinging from their heavy loss to Kiama in round two. Shoalies found the line 10 times, while Leith Cooper posted a personal tally of 24 points from two tries and seven conversions. Kiama continued its good early-season form with a 39-25 win over Avondale. In second grade, University thumped Bowral, TechTahs drew with Engadine, and Shoalhaven held Vikings to nil. Third grade saw University defeat Bundanoon, Engadine down TechTahs, Camden defeat Shamrocks and Shoalhaven defeat Vikings.
