WOLLONGONG JUNIOR AFL

MURRAY BERGMEIER

NORTHERN Districts Tigers scored a convincing 82-29 win over Figtree Kangaroos in the under 13s division of Wollongong Junior AFL on the weekend.

Coach Greg McPherson was quoted as saying "?our second and third efforts were good and we manned up all over the paddock'.

Brodie Pertrola was on the wing, Jacob West was given a tagging role and both contributed strongly with any loose play being ably defended by Sarah Leonard and the backline.

The under 15s played the Kangaroos for the second time in two weeks and were untroubled, with the dominant Tigers controlling the ball from the center.

Superb footy skills were on display, particularly from Jack O'Donoghue and Alex Bennett.

Cal Wearne, Mitchell Osadczuk and the mercurial Sean Watson had standout games for the under 10s, who overcame the Kangaroos 76-29.

The under 9s and 11s had to make the trip to Dapto for their weekend matches and battled cold and windy conditions.

The ball swirled and was difficult to control, but Daryn Hansen and Ben Goldman teamed well with Lucy Bergmeier for a 51-13 final score.

Norths suffered a reverse in the under 12s, when the fourth-placed Swans, boasting a 3-6 win-loss record, outplayed the second-placed Tigers 48-27.

Congratulations to all the Tigers' junior players for their efforts so far in 2007.
