tingrays make finals
THE Illawarra Stingrays women's soccer team is just the one win away from a fairy tale start as a club after defeating Marconi 2 1 in the major semi final of the NSW Premier League on Sunday.
An unbelievable gutsy team effort saw the Stingrays become the only team to have defeated Marconi twice in a season for the past three years and in doing so booked themselves to a first up grand final.
The score was locked at 0 0 at the break before Marconi hit the lead.
However it wasn't long before Jessica Cooper levelled the score and then Tina Siskoska sent the Stingrays supporters into raptures with a late header.
The team will have a week to recover before facing either Marconi or North West Sydney Koalas on Sunday September 17 at Marconi Stadium.
