FOLLOWING their superb display at the recent Diocesan Gala Day at St Gregory's College, Campbelltown - where they won all six short games, scoring 76 points and only conceding four - Bellambi's Holy Spirit College U15 rugby league team has been rewarded with seven reps in the Diocesan team to play in the Combined Catholic Colleges Carnival at Edmund Rice College on May 1.
Coach Adam Lawson was delighted with his team's performance, not only for their outstanding play, but for the sportsmanship they displayed throughout the event.
Players chosen are centres Kristian Aroutsidis and Jereme Collins, fiveeight Jayden Dallalana, halfback and captain Luke Raduva, lock Michael Dengate and props Luke Shiels and Adam Micale.
Other members of this outstanding team were Daniel Beckett, Luke Harding, Joshua Malafu, Guye McPherson, Adam Rouse, Todd Simpson, Jarryd Smith, Joshua Spencer, Masiu Taufa, Michael Vinson, Daniel Zohar, Adrian Zorzut and Aiken Purdon.
The talented team will also compete in the Illawarra All Schools Knockout in June and their coach is quietly confident of reaching the final.
The college also experienced a successful Term 1 on the sporting field.
The open boys and girls tennis teams were the Wollongong Diocesan champions: The boys swimming team achieved the same result with the school 3rd overall: The U15 boys touch team took 2nd place in the Wollongong Diocesan Championships: In boys soccer the U13 and Open sides were the champions of the Diocese, while the U15s were runnersup.
