South Park – Lets go tower defense
Platform – Xbox live arcade
Distributor – Microsoft
Genre – Strategy
Rated – M

There are terrible powers at work as elves, hippies, ginger haired kids, cows and even worse old people are overtaking the town of South Park and it is up to those misfit 4th graders to stop them. It is a game of strategy as you must figure the best way to stop these evil beings from being let loose on society.

You strategically place different stationary weapons like lasers and cherry bomb throwers that are called towers. As the levels progress so does the requirement to think more as you do things like build snow walls that will lead the enemy into the direct line of your towers fire before too many of them reach the exit point.

There is only a certain amount of time to do it before the next wave of enemies come rushing in and you must quickly start using your main weapon, snowballs and your special power (which vary depending on the character) against them, trying not to get yourself killed.

Well if someone has to die at least let it be Kenny as he is inevitably going to kick the bucket at the end of the episode anyway, “you bastards”. New characters are unlocked as you complete the levels and different medals are achieved depending on how many points you scored with extra points given for perfect waves (eliminating the entire wave of bad guys without any getting through the exit). Once you have collected enough coin you can build more towers and upgrade your existing ones to become more powerful.

The campaign is available to play offline with both single and multiplayer options depending on how many controllers you have. and online games consist of both quick play and the campaign with 11 different scenarios to complete. With their being four characters on the screen at once, if there is less than four people playing you switch control between the characters.

The graphics will remind you of something you would have seen on the previous generations of console and you may think “oh man how lame” but it is all about the game play with this one.

It is addictive, slightly humorous and requires you to exercise your brain a bit. Single player is good but it is the multiplayer that makes this a load of fun. For the money it is well worth downloading and not just for South Park fans.
