GREYHOUND racing will continue in Wollongong's northern suburbs next year, but the problems for the embattled Bulli Greyhound Racing Club are far from over.
Members were concerned the club could lose its 52 race meetings at Bulli Showground in 2006/07.
Greyhound Racing New South Wales (GRNSW) decided to terminate the meetings of one South Coast club in an effort to counter the sharp fall industry revenue.
Last week, the GRNSW board announced the Nowra club as the unfortunate victim of the cost-cutting campaign. But Bulli secretary manager Paul Barnes said his club had also been hit hard.
GRNSW has slashed Bulli's popular Wednesday night race meetings to 11 for next year, in a move that Mr Barnes said would cost the club about $100,000 in revenue.
Bulli used to run 44 Wednesday night race meetings each year, but for 2006/07 the majority of their 52 dates will include less-popular twilight meetings on Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays and Sundays.
"We've got some financial reserves, but we've got to plan to get that money back and it won't be easy," Mr Barnes said.
