Second vandalism attack targets Corrimal Pool

Human faeces, broken glass and an indecipherable message greeted staff and swimmers at Corrimal Pool on Tuesday morning.
In the second vandalism attack since last November a person or persons broke into the facility, defecated in the 25m pool, threw a bin through a clubhouse window and used kickboards and pool noodles to spell an indecipherable massage on the lawn.
Staff spent the early hours of Tuesday morning cleaning up the mess and making the pool fit for swimmers again.
Corrimal Swim Club President David Swan said older swimmers couldn’t get in the pool for their early swim because of the contamination, but the 100 or so children there on the morning were still able to train.
“It didn’t have an impact on their training this morning but they just look at you and go ‘here we go again Mr Swan’,” he said.
Mr Swan said he is disappointed with Council for their failure to install protecting mesh on the clubhouse windows as he has requested.
Council hadn’t responded to the Wollongong and Northern Leader’s enquiries on the matter at the time of going to print.
In November Corrimal Swim Club’s clubhouse and the pool’s kiosk were completely trashed causing many tens of thousands of dollars in damage.
