LAST weekend saw Bulli runner Ryan Gregson in a showdown with his idol, World middle distance Champion Craig Mottram at the 3000m Telstra A Series at the Olympic Park Athletic Centre in Sydney.

In a star studded international open field, the 16-year-old Gregson had yet another outstanding race registering a new personal best time of 8:15. In the process Ryan set a new State U18 record bettering the previous time that had stood for the past 15 years.

With a busy competition schedule Ryan will race next week in the Kembla Joggers NSW Mountain Running Championships to be held at Mt Burelli.

Following the local hit out Ryan will return to the track in Queensland on the 10th and 11th March where he will race against Australia's best U18 Athlete's in the Australian U18 Youth Match that is being held in conjunction with the Australian Open Athletics Championships.

After this meet, Ryan is hopeful of gaining selection in the Australian World Youth Team to contest the World Youth Championships at Ostrava, Czech Republic in July.
