Region pays tribute to ANZAC spirit

THOUSANDS of people attended ANZAC Day services at the various cenotaphs in the region to honour men and women who died in war on Tuesday.
Moving dawn services were held at Helensburgh, Coledale, Austinmer, Thirroul, Woonona and Corrimal before huge crowds gathered along the streets of Wollongong to witness the annual march.
Organisers of the ANZAC Day dawn service in Wollongong said 2,000 people attendanded to hear the address from Commanding Officer of the Hydrographic Service, Captain B. Kafer.
Royal Australian Army Major General David Hurley laid a wreath at the cenotaph and led the morning march through Wollongong.
