IT’S the kind of story every band dreams of – the ink is drying on a distribution deal with a leading independent record label.
You’re set to embark on a headline tour of Australia and Japan and your new album is eagerly awaited by both fans and critics, features guest spots from some big names in metal and rock and even soap stars-turned-musicians.
For Wollongong/Sydney band LORD, it’s a story that has been years in the making and one that will enable them to return with their new album, Set In Stone.
Forming in 2006 from the ashes of much-loved Sydney metallers Dungeon, LORD has been a mainstay on the Australian and New Zealand live scenes, thrilling audiences with its unique brand of heavy rock and larrikin stage shows, which feature everything from crowd-surfing blow-up dolls to performances on the bar and covers of Aussie pop songs.
With the launch of Set In Stone, the follow-up to 2007’s Ascendance, the band will bring that show to the world.
The band will perform at Wollongong’s Oxford Tavern tomorrow from 9pm.
“When LORD first started out we toured in Wollongong and a few members are from around these parts,” frontman Lord Tim said. “We’re stoked to be coming back.”
John Howarth, the owner of independent label Riot! which will be distributing Set in Stone, said it was a pleasure to finally work with LORD.
“It’s something I have really wanted to do for a long time now,” he said. “The new material is incredibly strong and without a doubt their best yet.
“We really want to help push LORD to the next level both here and overseas.”
