Alex Baird

THIRROUL youngster, 13-year-old Alex Sticks' Baird, has just returned from a visit to England that saw him trial with the junior ranks of English soccer giants Blackburn Rovers and Bolton Wanderers.

In what was a successful trip, the up and coming goalkeeper tested himself against some of England's finest young talents, and much to his delight received an enthusiastic response from club youth development officers.

With an invitation to return for another stint later this year, Alex is keen to again test himself in the sensational soccer facilities England has to offer.

Though next time around Alex is hoping to sample some warmer English weather after his recent trip was cut short due to storms that have been battering England in recent weeks.

Despite the weather, Alex did get to see some sights, with the country's sports stores amongst his favourites, however the trip highlight was the chance to see his favourites Arsenal up against Liverpool.

With a trip scheduled to Sweden's Gothia Cup and The Manchester Umbro International later this year as part of the Brazilian Soccer Schools Australia Team, Ryan is back in the nets working hard on his speed, footwork and agility with his coach.

With his eyes on the prize Ryan is hopeful of one day representing Australia and playing in the English Premier League.
