A RECENT incident at a Northern Suburbs school has lead police to ask schools and local residents to report any suspicious persons on school grounds, particularly during school hours.
On June11 at 11:30am a young boy attending a local school was approached on the school grounds by a middle-aged man claiming to be sent by the boy's mother to pick him up, police said.
The boy ran from the man and returned to class.
Police said the man was described as being about 50 years old, medium build 175cm tall, with an Australian accent, short grey hair a small grey goatee and was wearing glasses.
Wollongong Police Crime Prevention Officer Senior Constable Paterson said, "parents are advised to teach children that if something happens or if they are approached or become suspicious, that they should tell a trusted adult immediately."
