BLACK and gold was the order of the day as the Northern Districts Tigers took on the Bomaderry Tigers in Round seven of South Coast AFL. A great crowd turned out at Hollymount Park to watch the top of the table clash, with Bomaderry and Norths sitting first and second on the ladder. In reserve grade Bomaderry’s pace and accurate kicking in the third had proved the difference, and the final result for reserve grade went to Bomaderry (9-13-67) over Norths (4-5-29). Best on the ground for Norths were Andrew Osadszuk who kicked two goals, along with Warren Weaver and Anthony Hunt who played hard at the ball all match. Top spot was the prize on offer in first grade match, with Bomaderry and Northern Districts undefeated. Norths had several key players out to injury, leaving Bomaderry to start narrow favourites. Northern Districts’ back line fought hard in the opening terms, with Nathan England leading the charge. Bomaderry were able to make better use of the ball in the middle of the ground, and went into the half time break leading by twenty points. In the third term Norths found fresh legs, and dominated all over the park, closing to within ten points before Bomaderry kicked away with two quick goals. Trent Avery and Shawn Murray kicked three goals each to lead the Northern Districts’ comeback. Norths continued to pressure their Shoalhaven counterparts but just as they were within striking distance, Bomaderry would jump away again. Northern Districts showed great spirit and determination to score all the points in the final ten minutes. The final siren gave the game to Bomaderry (12-9-81) over Northern Districts (8-9-57). Best on the ground for Norths were Nathan England, Warwick Shore, Josh McClarnen and Ben Paulson, all receiving bonus payments thanks to Pioneer Electrical Supplies in Bellambi. This Saturday Northern Districts will host HMAS Albatross, from 1pm at Hollymount Park.
