Passing the buck

You little beauty! Light at the end of the tunnel with the Lawrence Hargrave Drive and Bulli Pass intersection headache.

The familiar sight of bumper to bumper traffic snaking south over Bulli Hill along the highway to Slacky Flat is becoming a daily occurance for motorists in peak hour traffic. Watching vehicles fly down Bulli Pass and motorists shooting across their path into Lawrence Hargrave Drive makes the heart skip a beat.

The dangerous intersection was put back in the spotlight last week when Shadow Minister for the Illawarra Peta Seaton called on the State Government to commit to budget and plan the upgrade of the intersection.

Locals have constantly expressed concerns about the increased traffic on the Sea Cliff Bridge and the additional pressure on the intersection. Ms Seaton has called on the State Government to commit to budget and plan the upgrade of the intersection.

The Minister for Illawarra David Campbell reacted to the critisism by saying the Shadow Treasurer Ms Seaton should be aware of the $2 million allocated for the intersection in the State Budget. He said the Government's preferred option for the intersection is close to completion and will be on public display in the coming months.

Hopefully this will lead to a remedy to a problem that is becoming worse with every passing day.
