New blood for Corrimal Chamber

The new Corrimal Chamber of Commerce and Industry excecutive.

AN encouraging turn-out to the Corrimal Chamber of Commerce annual general meeting has bolstered support for the flagging organisation.

A lack of enthusiasm from local traders prompted the Chamber on a last ditch membership drive and promotion in recent weeks with outstanding results.

Chamber secretary Wendy Fogerty said the evening was a great success with all positions filled.

"We were most pleased with the turnout of 29 in which 23 local businesses were represented," Ms Fogerty said.

After the official proceedings, a presentation and forum from Corrimal Apex on Spring into Corrimal was provided.

Stockland Management gave a brief talk on their support for the Chamber and Spring into Corrimal, while confirming they will be actively encouraging all traders within the shopping centre to join and support the Chamber.

The new Executive Committee meets for their first meeting next Monday night where responsibilities for each of the roles will be officially handed over to the respective position holder to ensure a smooth transition across to the new team. The new team will still be focused strongly on membership recruitment and are encouraging all local businesses to support the chamber by becoming a member.

The Chamber's next meeting will be held at the Corrimal RSL Club on Monday August 28 at 6pm with speaker, Greg Binskin from Tourism Wollongong.
