Bulli’s Ryan Gregson.
KEMBLA Joggers star Ryan Gregson has returned from the Australian under 18 cross country championships with three gold medals.
Gregson, the NSW captain for the meet, won the 6km individual event by 100 metres from South Australia’s Richard Everest and Victorian, Luke Hennessey.
A large field of 81 starters took part in the 6km race on a course that had a good mix of fast, flat sections and steep rocky climbs.
Gregson was also part of the successful NSW team to win overall gold in the teams event.
He backed that up two days later when he anchored the NSW relay team to a gold medal and recorded the best split time of the day.
Fellow Kembla Jogger and Northern Suburbs resident Hamish Paine continued his great progress in middle-distance running with a fighting third place in the 11 years boys 3km event.
This follows on from his third placing in the same event at Hobart in 2006. Hamish was also part of the successful NSW team, winning overall gold in the team’s event and gold in the relay event.
