BELLAMBI BLUEBOTTLES
THE Bellambi Bluebottles winter swimmers were greeted with beautiful sunshine and a warm 18-degree pool for their second point score of 2008 on Sunday.
Matthew Sparks showed some good early form in winning the first heat from club stalwart Jim Rentoul and Brett White.
New member Mason Jones lost two seconds in winning the second heat from debutant Allan Rose, who lost one second.
Darren Broers finished third.
Clint Ryan won the third heat from Andrew Kirton and Col Hewitt.
The Bellambi Hotel Final was a nail-biter, with all three place-getters losing one second.
Mason Jones won in a close finish from club chef Brett White and Garry Parker.
Clint Ryan’s team of Tony Crawford, Nick Rose, James Rose, Allan Rose, Darren Broers, Mason Jones and Simon McGovern won the Touleng Services Relay by a second.
Matthew Sparks’ team finished second.
Next week the Bluebottles will start at 9am due to Mother’s Day.
