Museums open for heritage festival

TO celebrate the National Trust's annual Heritage Festival both the Balgownie Heritage School Museum and Bulli's Black Diamond Heritage Centre will have special open days.
The Balgownie School Museum will be open on Sunday April 2 with blacksmith demonstrations from Ray Lincoln throughout the day and retired coal miners and timber cutters on hand to share their knowledge of the past.
This year's Heritage Festival has the theme Industrial Heritage' and in keeping with the theme the Black Diamond Heritage Centre will relaunch a second edition of the late West Hapgood's book Deep Valleys, Tall Trees, Tough Men and Women on Sunday April 9 at the Bulli Railway Station Museum. The centre sells a wide range of local history books.
The Bulli museum is open Sundays from 1pm to 4pm, while Balgownie is normally open the first Sunday of the month from 10am to 4pm.
