AUSTRALIA Post is urging Woonona residents to ensure their letterbox is theft-proof after a small amount of mail was reported as being stolen after delivery from residential letterboxes in the area.
The matter has been reported to Police and the letters redelivered to the residents concerned with a note of explanation with advice on how to avoid the crime.
Australia Post spokesperson Elizabeth Rich warned that the issue of mail theft after delivery is not isolated to Woonona residents.
She said one of the simplest ways to protect against identity fraud is to put a lock on your letterbox and keep the key secure.
Information about the ideal letterbox specifications can be obtained from Australia Post on 131318.
