AN estimated 10,000 people will line the streets of Wollongong for this year's Anzac Day Parade.

The parade will be pretty much the same as in previous years, but Illawarra Anzac Day Committee President Mr. Peter Poulton AM said that he "?wouldn't be surprised' if the numbers increased this year.

The March will include a fly-over of restored aircraft and restored vintage vehicles from the South Coast Vintage Car Club, which will transport those who can no longer march.

Mr. Poulton said that the number of people attending Anzac Day Services has been increasing every year and said that young people make up the majority of the crowds.

"I think it's pride in their country that brings young people to the parade and services, but also pride in the people who serve their country. They realise how much soldiers gave up for the youth of today," Mr Poulton said.

"It means a lot to people who have served and it means a lot to families of people who have paid the ultimate sacrifice.

"By turning out the community is saying they haven't forgotten."

A contingent from the visiting Royal Australian Navy ship HMAS Yarrah were supposed to march in the Wollongong parade on Anzac Day, but had to pull out because of other commitments.

Last year around 2,000 people attended the Anzac Day down service in Wollongong.
