THE Northern Leader's continued commitment to reporting regional surf life saving news was acknowledged on Saturday night.
For the second year running the Leader took-out the Outstanding Media Contribution to Surf Life Saving award at the Bluescope Steel Surf Life Saving Illawarra Awards Night.
Sports reporter Phil Bushby accepted the award on behalf of the Leader at the Northbeach Novotel. Our sister paper the Lake Times was also a nominee for the award.
A: The Minister for Illawarra David Campbell presented the Life Saver of the Year award to Bulli Surf Club's Jamie Caldwell.
B: Mark Thompson accepted the award for Surf Club of the Year on behalf of the Helensburgh/Stanwell Park club.
C: Samantha Hammond of Coalcliff Surf Club took out the Junior Life Saver of the Year award.
D: Emma Greene of the Sandon Point club was awarded Rooky Volunteer of the Year.
