ROUND two of the NSW South East Region Tennis Junior Development Series (JDS) was hosted by Bulli District Tennis Association on Sunday at the Bulli, Corrimal and Thirroul tennis centres.

Competition was tight, with young players descending on the northern suburbs from Helensburgh to Picton and Bega to contest the event.

Points earned in the JDS give players the right to contest the Champion of Champions in August, which leads to a place in the NSW State Masters final.

Players who performed well included under 16 boys winner Jack Swindells (Fairy Meadow), while Gaby Hooker (Woonona) was runner-up in the girls under 14s.

Woonona’s Cassidy Smith was runner-up in the under 10 girls competition.

Round three of the JDS will be in Batemans Bay on Sunday.

In the other divisions, Charlie Reardon won the boys under 10 against Paul Mulligan. Dominic Marquis won the boys under 12s against Sam McConchie, Isaac McCarthy defeated Mackenzie Edwards in the boys under 14s and Jack Swindells defeated Tom Stratton in the boys under 16 final.

Monique Marquis won the girls under 10s against Cassidy Smith, Rita Davis defeated Carley Spinks in the under 12 girls, Allison Corfield won the under 14s over Gaby Hooker and Rachel Frezza defeated Kristina Prentoska in the under 16 girls final.
