ONE THOUSAND laps of endurance kart racing is never an easy task, but the Wollongong City Raceway Jets managed just that to win the opening round of the Powered by Honda ProKart Australia Endurance Kart championship.
That event was held last Saturday week at the Wollongong City Raceway, Kembla Grange.
Although the 3D East Coast Racing #1 team qualified on pole position, Wollongong City were the first to complete 1000 laps around the 670-metre track.
Behind the high-flying Wollongong City Raceway Jets were 3D East Coast Racing #1, followed by KBC racing team, five laps behind the leaders.
Finishing just off the podium in fourth position with a completion of 994 laps was the KAOS Racing team and after starting in position two, Kart Blanche ended in fifth place after managing to complete 992 laps.
The first B Grade team to finish the 1000 lap event was Shire Racing team who finished sixth outright, and the 3D East Coast Racing #2 finished seventh after starting in sixth position on the grid.
The Two Dogs Team Racing finished ninth outright and were also the third B Grade team to reach the finish line.
Colmac Excavations Racing finished eighth outright and their race meeting was highlighted after they recorded the fastest lap of the event, which was a total time of 30.304 seconds.
Round two will be held on March 1 and 2 at Fairburn Park Kart Track, near Canberra. Visit www.prokart.com.au for more information.
