Wollongong City’s Cara Mura had a successful round one of the NSW Surf Premiership.

ILLAWARRA branch competitors produced handy results at round one of the NSW Surf Premeirship at Warilla Beach on Saturday.

North Wollongong’s Elyse Yardley finished second in the open ironwoman event while Bulli’s Brittany Sharkey finished fourth.

Sharkey had to settle for fourth place in the surf race, behind Wollongong City’s Cara Mura, who finished second.

Mura also finished second in the under 19s women’s surf race.

Sharkey also finished fourth in the board and ski, where Yardley also finished second.

Bulli’s Cara Langdendam won the open flags and finished third in the beach sprint.

Thirroul’s Ryan O’Grady won the under 15 men’s ironman and surf race and finished third in the board.

Shane Barrie of North Wollongong won the open men’s surf race while Wollongong City’s Ben Squires won the open board.

Towradgi’s Bernadette Cardillo won the under 15 women’s beach sprint and second in the corresponding flags event.

Warilla-Barrack Point is in second place in the premiership after round one.

The South Coast club is in second place behind competition leaders Manly.

In the under 19 men’s Warilla duo Ali Day and Hayden White sealed an Ironman quinella by finishing first and second respectively.

Day backed that up with third in the surf race, sixth in the board and fifth in the ski.

White won the board and finished second ahead of clubmate Ben Prior (third) in the ski.
