Some kids enjoying some sporting fun at the URAC School Holiday Sports Camps.

CHILDREN have the chance to experience more sports than they can poke a stick at with the University of Wollongong’s Recreation and Aquatic Centre (URAC) school holiday program, which starts on Tuesday, October 2.

The camps are aimed at primary school-aged children (5–13 years of age) and are a healthy alternative for the holidays.

It aims to introduce children to as many as six sports per day in a non-competitive atmosphere.

Children will also rub shoulders with some of the Illawarra’s sporting elite, including Shannan Taylor, Lauryn Eagle, Mick Cutajar, Russell Dessaix-Chin, Ben Allen, Jacob Payne, Mark Scott, Brittany Sharkey, Donna Kosta, the Illawarra Hawks and St George Illawarra Dragons.

Among the sports sampled at the camp are tennis, handball, touch, dance, basketball, volleyball, judo, bocce, ultimate frisbee, dragon tag, baseball and dodge ball.

Camps run from 9am to 3pm with the option of a late stay until 5pm from Tuesday, October 2 to Friday, October 12. Contact URAC Programs Manager Lee Murray at lmurray@uow.edu.au or 4221 5358.
