Kylie Ramstadius and her two-year-old daughter Kelsey.

YOUNG mums and their babies are set to have some fun together in November when they take part in the Fun for Mums and Bubs workshops being held by Community Connections in Corrimal.

The workshops aim to give 15-25-year-old mothers an opportunity to spend a couple of hours having fun with their babies, learn more about their babies and socialise with other mothers around their age.

Kylie Ramstadius from Community Connections- herself a mother of three- said it is very important for mothers to connect with their children during the first six months of life.

She said spending fun time with their baby is important for both mothers and their children.

The Fun for Mums and Bubs workshop will be a relaxed and informal affair, and will run every Friday throughout the month of November.

Each week's workshop will have a different topic, such as Baby Massage, Bubs and Sleep, Fun with Music, Introducing Food and Games to Play and Things to Do with Bubs.

Community Connections is a service that supports families with infants up to eight years old supported by Families NSW and Wollongong City Council.

Ms Ramistadius said it was important to appreciate that parenting has its ups and downs and that new mums learned as they went along.

“I can empathise with a parent that at times being a mum is a journey with sometimes seemingly impossible challenges but overall many amazing rewards,” she said.

“There is no such thing as a perfect parent or a perfect child and no parent has the answer- all parents need support!”

Ms Ramistadius said she would like to see about 15 mothers attend the workshops, but said if the response was really big she will look at doing another run of workshops in the future.
