Last Sunday Sandon Point Surf Club held the Point to Point Ocean swim for the second year running with a huge crowd and an increase of almost 50 percent in competitors to top off a superb day.
The day got off to a great start with over 55 swimmers completing the 600m swim.
First male across the line was Iszak Lunney and first female Nerice Smith.
The 1.2km swim saw over 185 swimmers hit the water with some top class names keen to beat last year’s winner Beau Wheeler home.
In a record time of just 15.23:00 Jarod Poort crossed the line with Ben Allen hot on his heels in second and Louis Fress third.
The women’s race was also a great race with last year’s winner Zoe Elkerton successfully defending her title, while Zoe Diamond was in second place and third went to Hannah Minogue.
The 2km run was introduced for the first time this year and was taken out by Nick Ferderer.
With around 250 swimmers having a go for personal achievement or in a competitive manner it surely made this event a huge success and one that has truly placed itself on the map as an annual one.
Much of the success of the day can go down to the hours of hard work done by members of the Sandon Point Surf Club who worked tirelessly during the event.
