MEMORIAL gates to legendary sportsman James Judy Masters have been stolen from the grounds of Balgownie Public School in an act that has shocked the community.
Twin memorial gates, installed in 1960 to honour Judy Masters, went missing sometime on Sunday night or in the early hours of Monday morning.
Masters has been inducted into Australia soccer's Hall of Championships after captaining the country in 22 internationals. He was also a veteran of the Great War, serving in Turkey and France.
Born in Balgownie in 1892, Masters is considered the former coal mining town's favourite son. He died in 1955.
