ILLAWARRA PREMIER LEAGUE

ILLAWARRA Premier League (IPL) newcomers Fernhill are looking good heading into Saturday’s clash with league champions Dandaloo after a 2-nil win over Albion Park White Eagles.

The Foxes broke Albion Park’s six-game winning streak at Terry Reserve on Saturday.

Fernhill looked in trouble when Dean Kerr was sent off in the 25th minute for a double yellow offence.

However, Ben Price scored the all-important first half goal for a 1-nil lead at the break.

Fernhill doubled their advantage on the hour when substitute Matthew Keep scored.

Albion Park were reduced to ten men in the dying stages when Adam Johnson was sent off for a second bookable offence.

Meanwhile, Port Kembla had to scramble for a 3-all draw against Tarrawanna at Tarrawanna Oval.

All six goals were scored in the second half after a drab opening period.

In the 55th minute, Port ’keeper Kurt Van Arkkels was sent off for handing a goal-bound back pass from teammate Danny Ristevski.

Ricky Zucco converted the ensuing free kick for a 1-nil Tarrawanna lead.

However, the ten-man Port side snatched the lead with quick goals to Keiran Duncan and Ben Gatwood.

Tarrawanna then went ahead again after goals to Cameron Littler and Michael Todd.

With six minutes remaining Shane Manning scored a priceless equaliser for Port to complete the scoring in a frantic second half.

Dandaloo bounced back to form with an emphatic 4-nil home win over Picton Rangers.

Alvin Ceccoli (his first goal for Dandaloo), Christian Cevinini, Anthony Guido and Chris Jackson found the back of the net for Dandaloo.

Cringila defeated Warilla Wanderers 3-1 at King Mickey Park.

Dominic Magill scored in the first minute for Crini, who were held scoreless for the rest of the first half.

However, the Lions sealed the three points with second-half goals to David Polidoro and Cord Tolson before Warilla’s lone goal came from a penalty.

Dapto made it back-to-back wins with a 2-1 victory over Wollongong United at Dapto Showground.

South Coast United and Bulli drew 1-all on Sunday to complete the round.
