Two close friends of the East Corrimal girl who lost her life in last week’s Bradley’s Head boating accident have spoken to the Wollongong and Northern Leader of their heartbreak over losing a friend in the prime of her life.
21-year-old Stacey Wright was one of six people who died when a runabout they were travelling in collided with a fishing boat early on the morning of May 1.
Wollongong’s Sophie Hunt said she remembers the former Hotel Illawarra bartender as a loving and caring person.
“Stacey was such a beautiful person,” Ms Hunt said.
“She loved everyone and everyone loved her.
“Stacey was always there for her friends and would cheer them up if they were upset.”
Another Wollongong local, Nicole Earley, said Stacey loved life and always lived it to the full.
“Stacey was a real fun and happy person,” Ms Early said.
“She loved life and cared for everyone.
“Stacey was easy going and it was a pleasure to be her friend.”
Stacey graduated from Woonona High School in 2003 and although she moved to Sydney due to work commitments, she always called Wollongong home.
Ms Hunt said that the after effect of losing such a vibrant, caring person was being felt throughout the community.
“Everyone will miss Stacey,” she said.
“It is such a tragedy that her life has been cut short.”
Ms Earley said that Stacey will always be remembered as a “beautiful girl loved by all”.
