Fairy Meadow taste defeat

May 31, 2007

Section: Community, Sport

FAIRY Meadow Men’s hockey team were defeated 3-1 by 2006 premiers Albion Park on Sunday afternoon at the Croome Road Complex. Keen for revenge after Meadow’s round one victory, Park were aggressive during the opening phases and dominated play. The game was camped around the visitor’s circle for large patches of the first half, though some counter-attacks did manage to stretch the home side’s defence. The half-time score was 2-0 to Albion Park. Another goal for the home side meant they were content to defend their lead. A perfectly flat ball from a longer corner to Meadow’s Ben Posetti however removed the clean sheet from Park's keeper Mitchell Zantis. Meadow’s player’s player Stephen McInnes marshalled his players valiantly from defence. The final result was 3-1 to Albion Park. The June 2 is Fairy Meadow Hockey Club’s trivia night from 7pm at Corrimal RSL. Anyone interested should contact Rebecca Body on 4272 5385.
