IT was smiles all round for local teams Balgownie and Corrimal after the semi finals of the Illawarra Cricket Competition on the weekend. However Bally were looking down the barrell in their match against University after being bowled over for a mere 92 in their first innings. But they bounced back to dismiss the students for 75 to claim first innings points. Standout with the ball was Chris Sheppard who took an amazing 4 3 off 20 balls.
Corrimal continued its improved season by reaching the final against favourites Keira in a nailbiting finish.
The Cougars climbed to 196 in their first dig and in reply Keira were cruising in the chase at 4 145.
However allrounder Chris Fisher dug deep to take 3 15 to have the opposition fall three runs short.
This fine performance from Chris rightly gave him clear man ofthematch following his 104 with the willow.
Corrimal and Balgownie will now clash at North Dalton Park this weekend.
