CORRIMAL Chamber of Commerce has raised the idea of restarting a Corrimal Carols by Candlelight in time for Christmas this year, but President Peter Leiner said if events like Carols are going to get off the ground the Chamber needs strong backing from local business people.
The idea of resurrecting the Corrimal Carols by Candlelight was floated at one of the Chamber's past meetings, and they are currently searching for a group or organization to take up the challenge of running the event.
Mr Leiner said he was confident that people with children would attend the carols if they were put on.
"But without a chamber these other things aren't going to happen," he said.
Mr Leiner said Corrimal Chamber of Commerce lacked momentum, and was still without nominations for a new Secretary, Assistant Secretary, Treasurer, Membership Officer and Webmaster ahead of the appointment of the new Executive at the July 30 AGM.
"Even up until the night we can get nominations off the floor. It's not desperation times but we've got to get that lethargy out of people," he said.
Mr Leiner would like to see Corrimal Chamber of Commerce model itself on the Northern Illawarra Chamber of Commerce and return to the strength of its past.
