CHILDREN of Woonona have flocked to newly completed play equipment at Hutton Park, much to the delight of numerous local families.
Local retiree and member of the Hutton Park Action Group Bob Hill said the park was inundated with children even before the construction fences were taken away.
He said the area was invaluable as a place for local families to spend time together in the open air.
"This open space is going to be really well used by all these young families," he said.
"I think we (the local community) are all very, very proud and pleased.
"We see families there until five o'clock at night after they knock of work."
Hutton Park was recently in the news for being desired by Bulli Football Club as a training ground.
The club have submitted a written request to Wollongong City Council for permission to train on part of the park grounds. The submission follows public meetings held by the club to gauge support for the idea.
