This year’s World Environment Day will be celebrated internationally on June 5.

Residents throughout the Illawarra are being asked to recognise the event by acting locally to have a global impact.

The annual initiative aims to educate people on the importance of doing what they can – even in small ways – to help preserve the planet for future generations.

The theme of this year’s World Environment Day is ‘Kick the Habit: Towards a Low Carbon Economy’.

The broader focus this year is on the issue of climate change and encouraging companies to become environmentally responsible by making greener choices.
