Saturday saw round 6 of Illawarra Rugby League with many positive results for the Thirroul Butchers. Under 6s continued their great development beating Dapto Canaries 24–6. The under 7s edged Wests Red 26–24 in an exciting match. Wests and Thirrouls split the two under 8s clashes at Parrish Park. In Mod league, the 9.1s went down to a strong Windang team 18–10. The under 10.1s got revenge by defeating Windang 12–10 and joining Helensburgh and Wests as the only undefeated teams in the division. Thirroul’s 10.2s were fantastic, defeating Collies Black 32-4. The under 11.1s racked up 60 points against Berkeley. The under 12–1s defended well against Wests but failed to control the ball. Wests tackled well and secured a 12–nil win. The 12.2s showed great character to claw their way back from 10-nil to snatch a 10-all draw with Corrimal Green. In International divisions, the Butchers 13s whitewashed Culburra 80-nil. Thirroul’s under 14.1s defeated Shellharbour 18–4. The under 15.1s also sprang a mighty upset, defeating the previously unbeaten Sharks 14-4. In the 16.1s local derby Thirroul were too strong for Corrimal, winning 30–24.
