Bulli a step closer

WITH just the five minutes remaining of extra time, Bulli broke the 1 1 deadlock with a fine header from Michael Clare to beat Picton 2 1 at Ball's Paddock on Sunday to take them into the last four of the Illawarra Premier League Soccer Competition.
Tarrawanna bowed out when beaten 1 0 by Port Kembla in a controversial game at Tarrawanna Oval.
Bulli trailed 1 0 and were fortunate not to go further behind when Picton missed a penalty 15 minutes into the second half. However the home team, inspired by their goalkeepers save, changed their plan of attack resulting in them being the better team from that point on despite losing defender John Flack, sent off with 10 minutes to go.
Keiran Deane scored the Blues first goal from the penalty spot.
Bulli beat Tarrawanna 1 0 in reserve grade and Dapto downed Tarrawanna 2 0 in youth grade. In First Division, Woonona beat Kiama 2 1, Balgownie downed Shellharbour City 1 0, but Wollongong Olympic defeated Bellambi 2 0.
