ILLAWARRA District Table Tennis Association is set to commence activities for 2007 with the Annual General Meeting at "Ted Tobin Hall", Beaton Park Leisure Centre, scheduled for Monday 12 February with a 7.30pm start. The meeting will be followed by the first practice of the year and is free to all players who attend. Regular Thursday night training sessions are set to commence at the same venue on February 22 at 7.15pm.

The season starts with the Illawarra Credit Union Pennant Competition, which runs for 15 weeks commencing March 5. Entry is available to newcomers during the coaching sessions on Thursday nights with two persons required to form a team and entries closing March 1.

2006's A grade; premiers Nicholas Jones and Jonathan Livermore are keen to defend their title yet again this year. While Shellharbour Workers Club Oldies (Sam Ismail, Fuat Yurugor, Tom Bessant) were winners in B grade, with Flames (Adam Purdon and Craig Gonsalvez) and Dad & Dave (Bill and Dave Webster) also expected to feature. C grade winners Jetsport (Darryl Apps and Steve Troughton) are moving on up to the B grade ranks for a new challenge, leaving the race to take the C grade title wide open.

Last year, Illawarra players Alan Russell and Joylene Morgan represented NSW in the Australian Veterans Championships held in Hobart, while Kanahooka High School student Adam Sanders was chosen for the Asian table tennis (disabled) championships in Malaysia.
