SOUTH COAST SURF BOATS – JOHN MASTERS

AUSTINMER dominated the first round of the Warilla Bowls South Coast Surf Boat Premiership at Shellharbour on Saturday.

Entries were down due to weddings and HSC examinations but 68 crews competed at the event.

In the open men’s Austinmer White led the point score winning all three races, followed by Batemans Bay, Moruya and Dixon Park.

The final was outstanding with Dixon Park winning from Wollongong City, Batemans Bay and Moruya.

With several other crews still to come into this group, racing is sure to be very close for the remainder of the season.

Austinmer picked up where they left off in their past open women’s season.

Along with Moruya, Austinmer won all three of their preliminary races and the final from Batemans Bay and Windang.

Although racing in the Open division, Austinmer’s crew are still eligible to race in the under 23s.

In the reserve division, the final was closely fought with Shellharbour winning from the Bay and Corrimal.

The under 23 men provided their usual high standard of competition.

Bulli Gold won the point score but Warilla were worthy final winners from Broulee and Bulli Gold.

In the under 23 women, Warilla-Barrack Point ahead of Shellharbour and Helensburgh-Stanwell Park in the final.

Bulli Gold won the under 19s from Batemans Bay and Austinmer.

The next round of the South Coast Surf Boat premiership will be at Broulee on Saturday, December 8.
