PAMELA Aurino has achieved a lot in her 19 years – setting up a photography business in Wollongong and working with some of Australia’s most recognised identities.

The 19-year-old Blackbutt teen took a gamble, deferring her university studies in 2008 and investing her savings into establishing wedding photography business Ela Photography.

Ms Aurino has described the past year as a whirlwind.

“It’s been overwhelming but liberating – a real roller coaster,” she said.

She has worked alongside a number of well-known personalities including footballer Matt Cooper, model Kimberley Storos and photographer Mark Nolan.

Ms Aurino said it was amazing working with the respected photographer..

Mark Nolan was similarly impressed with Ms Aurino.

“She’s energetic, willing to learn and the passion is there,” he said.

But it wasn’t all smooth sailing for the teenager.

She decided to leave her University of Wollongong Medical Chemistry degree, which disappointed her family. “My mum cried for a week,” she said.
