AUSTINMER’S Michelle Beattie took out her second Fitzroy Falls Fire Trail Marathon title on Saturday.

The Kembla Joggers runner previously won the women’s event in 2002 and placed second last year.

Beattie completed the 42km race in a time of 3 hours and 26 minutes, 18 minutes ahead of second and time ten minutes quicker than her previous victory.

“I’m absolutely stoked to win again this year, the conditions were much better this year,” Beattie said.

“I was most happy to win against much younger girls – it’s a difficult, off-the-road competition.”

The 40-year-old mother of two has been racing for 17 years, competing in numerous winter running events, including a third placing in this year’s King Of The Mountain in Nowra.

She has also been successful when competing in Triathlon events, her achievements including a victory in the World 30-34 Age Group Triathlon at Sato Island Japan and fifth place at the Forster Iron-Man Triathlon, both in 1998.

“I’m just going to keep entering events, such as the Four Peaks event in Victoria in four weeks’ time,” she said.
