Baron Shield for Woonona High

WOONONA High’s sporting success hasn’t been limited to the bowls green – they also snared the Baron Shield, which is awarded to the best sporting school in Wollongong’s northern suburbs.
This award is presented taking into account the results from the zone swimming, athletics and cross country carnivals, along with the winter grade competitions Competing schools include Bulli, Corrimal, Keira, Figtree and Woonona.
Woonona excelled once again at sport in 2007, winning 14 of the inter-school competitions.
Individual students who have excelled at state and Australian levels include: Tristan White (Australian representative in 16years hockey), Madolyn Ryan (NSW representative in 16years netball), Misha Harrison and Lisa Ireland (NSW representatives in soccer), Mark Rodgers (gymnastics), Chris Antonios (second in NSW All-Schools shot put), Curtis Tagliaferro (gymnastics) and Christopher Antonios, Benn de Hosson, Aaron Baker, Jake Sargent-Wilson (first place 12 years boys 4x100m athletics).
