THE community of Balgownie will be aglow with the spirit of Christmas this December.
Carols Aglow Balgownie is a joint effort by St John Vianney's Catholic Church and the Corrimal Region Uniting Church with the help of Balgownie Public School and St John Vianney's Catholic School.
One of the organisers of the event, Rodney Vickers from St John Vianney's said the carols helped to build community spirit, as well as encouraging people to exercise their vocal cords.
“I think people can get together and mostly Christmas carols people have some knowledge of them, and with a big crowd I don't think people are too embarrassed with their families to sing out,” he said.
“I don't think there is much chance for us to get out as a family (and) in Balgownie there's a good sort of village atmosphere and I think this will enhance that.”
“I think doing things locally is very important to enhance interaction between neighbours.”
Carols Aglow will begin with a sausage sizzle at 5.45pm on Friday December 14 at Balgownie Primary School.
The carols themselves will begin at 7pm. All are welcome to attend.
