WOLLONGONG City Council will launch its new Community Engagement Framework this month.

The new community consultation process aims to inform residents, promote community input and encourage people to have their say on current issues relating to major projects, development assessments and civil works.

The new framework includes three main regular consultation forums - Ward Kiosks, Community Planning Sessions and Ward Councillor Forums. Commencing next week, Ward Kiosks will be held four times a year in different suburbs across each ward.

In the north, a Ward 1 kiosk will be held at Bulli Beach on February 18 from 8.30am to 10.30am. Ward 3 will be held at North Wollongong beach on February 24 from 10am to noon. A Ward 2 kiosk will be run at Towradgi Park on March 10 from noon to 2pm.

"The Kiosks will assist Council to maintain an understanding of the issues that are relevant and important to the local community," said Mayor Alex Darling. Community Planning Sessions will provide a regular forum for community members to participate in identifying social issues of concern in their local area. These sessions will also be held four times a year in various suburbs within the Ward, with the first expected to commence in April.

Ward Councillor Forums will be introduced in March to provide interaction between community and councillors.
