Balgownie - "The decision given by the licensing court in Wollongong on Saturday last in connection with the registration of the Workmen's Club was a complete surprise to residents here, more especially those who have for so many years past enjoyed the privilege of membership. The objections raised by Mr Inspector Pountney and a number of local gentlemen against the registration at the club were upheld [after an appeal against a decision to not allow the club to reregister]. By this decision the clubs of this district are completely wiped out."
Clifton "We are pleased to note that Mr T Doyle, local station master, has received an advance of 12 pounds per year, and Mr Thomas, of Scarborough, 10 pounds per year& the former case we recognise that apart from Mr Doyle being a capable officer, the fact that he has created a favourable impression in the eyes for beauty by the interest and taste displayed in his garden is to a large extent responsible for the increase in salary&"
Law and order "The following is a summary of the business done at the local [Bulli] Police Court for the year just ended [1906]. There were 81 summons cases, 21 charges, 34 small debts cases. Out of 81 cases, 23 were liquor cases, of which there were 17 convictions. There were also 51 elector's rights issued."
